Instruções de Lavagem
Reusable pads aren't difficult — once you know how. On this page, you'll find all washing instructions clearly listed.
From first use to washing, drying and storing. So your LottePads stay soft, clean and comfortable, time after time.
Before First Use
Always wash your LottePads before first use. This activates the core fibers so the pad absorbs moisture optimally from the very first time you wear it.
How to Use LottePads?
- Place the pad in your underwear with the soft top layer facing you — just like you would with a disposable pad.
- Fold the wings around the sides of your underwear and press the snaps together.
- Make sure you wear well-fitting underwear so the pad stays securely in place.
After Use — Storing Until Washing
You don't need to rinse a used pad immediately. There are three ways to store them until you wash:
Dry storage in a wet bag
The easiest option. A wet bag that you can hang in the bathroom. At the end of your period, the entire bag — with the zipper open — goes in the washing machine.
In a bucket of cold water
Place the pads in a bucket of cold water and change the water daily. Don't close the bucket completely, or the pads may start to smell.
Dry in an open bucket
Store the pads dry and wash them all at once at the end of your period. Don't close the bucket.
Washing — Step by Step
Step 1: Use
Step 2: Store
Step 3: Wash
Cold Pre-soak
Rinse the pads cold before washing at temperature. This can be done in the washing machine on a cold pre-rinse cycle, in a bucket of cold water, or briefly under the cold tap. Cold water prevents blood from setting into the fabric.
Wash at 40—60°C
Wash at 40 to 60 degrees. Do not use fabric softener — fabric softener damages the absorbency of the core. For maternity pads or with stitches: wash at minimum 60 degrees.
Stain Treatment (optional)
Have stubborn stains? Add a stain remover with active oxygen before washing, or leave the wet pads in a bath of 40-degree water with stain remover for about an hour.
Drying
Preferably line dry. The pads absorb more moisture when the core fibers can relax in the air. Tumble drying is also allowed. Ironing is allowed, but be careful of the plastic snaps — keep the iron away from them.
Tip for cotton velour: After drying, the velour may feel a bit stiff. Scrunsh the pad in your hands — squeeze it a few times and release — and it will feel soft again immediately.
What if there's still a stain?
Not every pad comes out of the wash completely stain-free. What remains is usually dye that has set into the fabric — not dirt, not bacteria. Hygiene is guaranteed. A light stain is no reason to throw the pad away; it's a practical item.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to rinse the pads immediately after use?
No, you don't have to. Store them dry in a wet bag or in a bucket until you wash them.
Can I use fabric softener?
No. Fabric softener damages the absorbency of the core. Use regular detergent.
Can the pads go in the dryer?
Yes, but line drying is preferred. The core fibers perform better when they can air out.
How long do LottePads last?
With daily use, an average of 3 years. With normal use (only during menstruation) 5 years or more. Some pads even last 7 to 8 years.
How many LottePads do I need?
That depends on your period. On average, you need 5 pads per day, plus 1 for the night. For a 5-day period, that comes to 25 to 30 pads for a full set.
