Tudo Sobre Pensos de Incontinência Reutilizáveis
Incontinence. The word alone feels heavy for many people. Yet it is something that affects more people than you think — women and men, young and old.
At LottePads, we believe that in your most vulnerable moments you should be able to count on a product you trust. Reusable incontinence pads are comfortable, skin-friendly and reliable — and it's high time we just talk about it.
On this page you will read everything about how our incontinence pads work, who they are suitable for and how to use and wash them.
Incontinence is normal — and common
Incontinence is not a sign of weakness or aging. It is a physical phenomenon that can occur at any age. Think of:
- Women who have just given birth and have a weakened pelvic floor
- Women going through menopause where hormonal changes affect bladder control
- Athletes and dancers who experience urine loss during intense exercise
- People who have had a traumatic experience
- Women (and men) who simply notice that a coughing fit or sneeze sometimes asks just a bit too much of their pelvic floor
Even children can suffer from it. Age is a factor, but certainly not the only one.
"Our greatest concern is that you can deal with incontinence as comfortably as possible — with a product you can trust in your most vulnerable moments."
How is it made?
Specially designed for urine loss
LottePads incontinence pads are constructed differently from our menstrual pads because urine places different demands on the material.
The Top Layer — Cotton Velour
This is a velvet-soft fabric made by pulling up loops and then shearing them. This creates small, fine fibers that absorb moisture extremely quickly and provide a dry feeling — even after several small accidents.
Único nos Países Baixos
We are the only provider in the Netherlands offering reusable incontinence pads with a cotton velour top layer. That's no coincidence — it's a conscious choice for maximum comfort for sensitive skin.
The Core — Absorption and Protection
The core consists of one layer of molton cotton and one layer of PUL (Polyurethane Laminate). PUL is a fabric with a special laminate that prevents moisture from passing through.
That means: what goes into the pad stays in the pad. No leaking, even with urine that comes out with more force — when sneezing, coughing or jumping.
Qualidade Certificada
Todos os tecidos são certificados OEKO-TEX ou GOTS — livres de substâncias nocivas, testados para segurança da pele.
The Back Layer — Anti-pill Microfleece
The same breathable protective layer as our menstrual pads.
- Moisture does not go through
- Air does — maximally breathable
- Comfortable to wear, even with prolonged use
Which variant suits you?
We offer two variants: regular and extra wide
| Variante | Adequado para |
|---|---|
| Regular | Moderate urine loss, daily use |
| Extra Wide | Moderate to heavy urine loss, more side protection |
Both variants are designed to absorb more than just a splash after coughing or sneezing. They give you the confidence to get through the day without worrying.
When to choose extra wide?
Choose the extra wide variant if you notice that a regular pad sometimes leaks along the side, if your blood loss is heavier, or if you just want more security. The extra width provides more protection on the sides.
Who are the pads suitable for?
The current models are specifically designed for women. The shape and fit are tailored to the anatomy of the female body.
We are actively developing a model for men. Would you or someone you know like to help as a tester? We are looking for people who want to try this product and give feedback.
How to use reusable incontinence pads?
How long can you wear it?
There is no fixed wearing time like with menstrual pads. The smartest thing is to replace the pad as soon as it feels saturated, or immediately after you know you have lost urine — for example after a coughing fit or an intense workout.
Preventing urine burn
This prevents urine burn, a skin irritation that can occur if urine remains in contact with the skin for too long.
What do you do with a used pad on the go?
Put the used pad in a wetbag or pad wrapper. These are waterproof and seal well. Reusable incontinence pads have hardly any odor — certainly not the chemical smell you know from disposable produtos.
How to wash reusable incontinence pads?
Urine does not need to be pre-soaked in cold water — that's different from blood
Directly in the washing machine
No pre-soaking needed. Just put the pad in the washing machine.
Wash at 40—60 degrees
Wash at 40 to 60 degrees. Do not use fabric softener — fabric softener affects absorbency.
Line dry
Preferably line dry the pads. After drying, the velour may feel a bit stiff. Scrunch the pad in your hands — squeeze it a few times and release — and it will feel soft again immediately.
How long do they last?
With proper use, the pads last several years.
Tip for longer lifespan
If urine is highly concentrated or if discharge is acidic, it can affect the lifespan of the fabric over time. Drink enough water — that's good for your health and for your pads.
Because incontinence pads are worn more often than menstrual pads, their lifespan is slightly shorter than our menstrual pads. But even then, the ratio compared to disposable produtos is still enormously favorable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Don't reusable incontinence pads smell?
Hardly. The cotton velour top layer breathes and absorbs moisture quickly. There is no chemical reaction like with synthetic disposable produtos. Store a used pad in a wetbag when you're on the go.
Is it hygienic?
Yes, provided you follow the washing instructions. Urine is naturally sterile. Your washing machine at 40—60 degrees cleans the pad.
Can I also wear it at night?
Yes. Especially the extra wide variant offers good protection for the night.
I suffer from skin irritation from disposable produtos. Will this help?
That's a reason for many people to switch. The cotton velour top layer is exceptionally soft and breathes well. Many customers with sensitive skin, chronic skin conditions or yeast infections notice a difference quickly.
Are the pads also suitable for men?
The current models are designed for women. We are working on developing a male model and are looking for testers.
