Introduction & Basic Information

Reusable pads are a sustainable and reusable alternative to disposable pads. They are made of soft, breathable fabrics that feel comfortable and let your skin breathe. Instead of throwing them away after one use, you wash them and use them again.

Our LottePads are specially designed to be super absorbent, environmentally friendly and skin-friendly. No chemicals, no plastic, no stuffy feeling. Just comfort, time after time. With reusable pads, you not only take care of yourself, but also of the planet!

Reusable pads offer so many benefits that you probably never want to go back to disposables. The main reasons:

  • Comfort for your skin. Say goodbye to the stuffy feeling and irritation of disposable pads! LottePads are made of soft, breathable fabrics that let your skin breathe and feel comfortable.
  • Sustainable and eco-friendly. On average, a woman uses about 11,000 disposable produtos in her lifetime. With reusable pads, you help reduce this waste and contribute to a cleaner planet.
  • Cost-saving. Although the initial investment seems higher, you save significantly in the long run. A set of reusable pads lasts for years, so you don't have to keep buying.
  • Healthier for your body. LottePads contain no chemicals, bleaches or perfume found in disposable pads. This makes them a healthier choice for you and your intimate area.
  • Unique prints and cheerful designs. Who says periods have to be boring? Our pads come in cheerful prints and colors that make your cycle a little more fun.

The number of reusable pads you need depends on your period and how often you want to wash. As a guideline: you typically change a pad every 4—6 hours, so 3—5 pads per day. On heavier days this may be more frequent. If your period lasts 5 days, you need about 20—25 pads if you don't wash in between. If you wash every 2—3 days, a set of 10—15 pads is often sufficient.

It's handy to have a mix of light, medium and heavy absorbency, tailored to your cycle. Tip: start with a starter pack from LottePads. This way you can discover what works for you and easily expand as needed.

Yes, reusable pads are super comfortable! Many women find them even more pleasant than disposable pads. LottePads are made of breathable, natural fabrics that feel wonderfully soft — no plastic layers or irritating materials. Because the material breathes, you stay fresh and dry all day, without that stuffy feeling of disposable pads. Our pads are carefully designed to stay in place and be comfortable to wear, whether you're relaxing at home or being active.

Usage & Practical Tips

Using reusable pads is super easy and quickly feels like second nature.

  • Placement. Place the pad in your underwear with the soft fabric against your skin. Fold the wings around your underwear and press the snaps closed. This keeps it firmly in place, exactly where you need it.
  • Changing. Change the pad just like you would with disposable pads. How often depends on your flow. On average, you change a LottePad every 4—6 hours, but on heavier days it may be more frequent.
  • Storing on the go. When you're not at home, you can fold a used pad and secure it with the snaps. Store it in a waterproof wetbag until you can wash it.
  • Washing. Rinse your pads with cold water after use to prevent stains. Store them in a breathable laundry basket or wetbag until you do a wash. Wash at max. 60 degrees (no fabric softener!) and air dry.

On lighter days, you can usually wear a LottePad for 6—8 hours. With a heavier flow, we recommend changing your pad every 3—4 hours. Change your pad as soon as you feel it becoming damp or if you no longer feel fresh. This varies per person, but you'll quickly learn what works for you. Take a few extra pads with you when you're out and store used pads in a waterproof wetbag.

Yes, absolutely! Thanks to the wings and sturdy snaps, LottePads stay in place, even during intense movement. The soft, breathable fabrics prevent irritation and chafing, allowing you to move freely without distraction. For extra security, you can choose a LottePad with heavy absorbency. Whether you're doing yoga, playing soccer, or doing an intense workout, LottePads support you comfortably and reliably.

Yes, reusable pads are actually suitable for heavy periods! With the right size and absorbency, they offer the same (or even better) protection than disposable pads. Choose the Heavy/Night (31 cm) for heavy days and nights, the SuperFlow (37 cm) if you also pass clots, or the Heavy+ (47 cm) for the heaviest bleeding. Read more about pads for heavy bleeding →

Yes, absolutely! Reusable pads are also very suitable for teenagers. They are soft, comfortable and a great way to make conscious choices for the environment and your own health from an early age. We also have lighter variants and starter packs that are perfect for young girls who are just starting to menstruate.

Always take a few clean pads in your bag, along with a waterproof wetbag for used pads. A wetbag seals well and prevents odors. This way you can go about your day, even when you're not at home. Clean pads can be stored in a pad wrapper — compact and discreet.

Protetores Diários

A reusable pantyliner is a reusable alternative to disposable pantyliners. It is made of soft, breathable fabrics and works the same way as a disposable pantyliner — but you simply wash it and use it again. Ideal for daily comfort, discharge, light bleeding or light leaks.

A reusable pantyliner is suitable for discharge, light bleeding (beginning or end of your period), daily comfort, and light leaks — for example when sneezing, coughing, exercising or jumping rope. Note: for moderate to heavy urine loss, our incontinence pads are better suited because they have an extra leak-proof PUL layer.

We have four sizes: String (15 cm), Mini (14 cm), Regular (21 cm) and Maxi (24 cm). The regular size is also available without wings — handy if you cycle or ride horses a lot, so you don't feel any snaps. View the full size guide →

Our pantyliners are available with four different top layers: woven cotton, tricot, velour or organic cotton. Velour is the softest and gives a dry feel. Organic cotton is the most sustainable choice. Tricot is light and supple. Woven cotton is sturdy and durable.

No, our pantyliners do not have a PUL leak-proof layer. They are intended for light use. If you are concerned about leaking or losing more, we recommend choosing a pad or incontinence pad — depending on the situation.

For light bleeding, we recommend changing the pantyliner every 4—6 hours. For discharge or daily comfort, you can wear it for 6—8 hours. Always change if you no longer feel fresh.

Pensos de Incontinência

Reusable incontinence pads are a reusable alternative to disposable incontinence produtos. They are specially designed for moderate to heavy urine loss and feature a cotton velour top layer for a dry feel, an absorbent core of molton cotton, and a PUL leak-proof layer that prevents leaking — even when urine comes out with more force.

LottePads is the only provider in the Netherlands that makes reusable incontinence pads with a cotton velour top layer. Velour is made by pulling up loops and then shearing them. This creates thousands of small fibers that absorb and retain moisture extremely quickly. The result: a dry feeling, even with heavy urine loss.

For anyone who suffers from urine loss — young or old. Incontinence can occur at any age: after childbirth, due to a traumatic experience, from carrying a child, during menopause or simply over the years. Our pads are specially designed for women. We are working on a variant for men — would you like to be kept informed? Sign up as a tester →

The regular size is suitable for most women with moderate urine loss. The extra wide size offers more coverage on the sides and is ideal for heavy urine loss or if you want more security. View both variants →

For small leaks when sneezing, coughing, exercising or jumping rope, our pantyliners are also suitable. They are thinner and more discreet. For more loss, we recommend the incontinence pads because of the PUL leak-proof layer.

Incontinence pads don't need to be pre-soaked — just wash them at 40 to 60 degrees. Do not use fabric softener, as it affects absorbency. Line dry. After drying, the velour may feel a bit stiff — scrunch the pad through your hands and it becomes soft again.

With normal use, the pads last several years. Because you wear incontinence pads more often than menstrual pads, and concentrated urine can slightly accelerate fabric wear, the lifespan is somewhat shorter than menstrual pads. Wash at the right temperature and don't use fabric softener for the longest lifespan.

Postpartum Pads

Yes! Our Heavy+ (47 cm) is specially suitable for use during the postpartum period. It is our longest pad and offers maximum protection for heavy bleeding (lochia) after childbirth. The core consists of three layers of molton cotton for high absorbency. Read more about postpartum pads →

Yes, absolutely. After both a vaginal birth and a C-section, you lose postpartum blood (lochia) as the uterus heals. The pad works the same way. Make sure to change it at least every 4 hours and wash at minimum 60 degrees.

You can, but you'll need a wetbag to store the used pads. Make sure to bring enough pads. Many women start using reusable postpartum pads at home, once they have the ability to wash.

This is something to discuss with your maternity nurse in advance. Not all maternity nurses are familiar with reusable pads. Explain it and ask if they are willing to wash them. If they prefer not to, you can store the pads in a wetbag and wash them yourself when you have the opportunity. We also have an information package for healthcare professionals. View the information package for healthcare professionals →

In the first days after childbirth, you lose a lot of blood and change every 3—4 hours. Expect 6—8 pads per day for the first week. A set of 30—40 pads is a good foundation if you don't want to wash every day.

Heavy Bleeding & HMB

Yes, provided you choose the right variant. Our Heavy/Night (31 cm), SuperFlow (37 cm) and Heavy+ (47 cm) are specially designed for heavy periods. The core consists of multiple layers of molton cotton that absorb and retain a lot of moisture. Read more about pads for heavy bleeding →

The Heavy/Night (31 cm) is for heavy days and nights. The SuperFlow (37 cm) has extra layers and special grooves that absorb and "lock" the flow faster — ideal if you also pass clots. The Heavy+ (47 cm) is the longest variant, for the heaviest bleeding and the postpartum period.

If you change more often than every 2 hours, pass clots larger than a coin, your period lasts longer than 7 days, or you regularly feel exhausted or dizzy. Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a medically recognized condition for which treatments exist. Contact your doctor. More information →

Sizes & Choices

The right size depends on what you're using it for (menstruation, incontinence or discharge), how much you lose and how long you want to wear it. We've created a comprehensive size guide to help you step by step. View the size guide →

Pads with wings stay in place better because the wings snap around the crotch of your underwear. The variant without wings is thinner and more discreet — handy if you cycle or ride horses a lot and don't want to feel snaps. At the moment, the variant without wings is only available in regular size pantyliners.

That's personal. Velour gives the softest touch and a dry feel — moisture is quickly absorbed and you feel dry. Organic cotton is the most sustainable choice and feels natural. Tricot is light and supple. Woven cotton is sturdy. Not sure? Start with a sample pack or order one of each variant to discover what you like best.

Care & Washing

Rinse your pads with cold water after use to prevent stains. Store them in a breathable laundry basket or wetbag until you do a wash. Wash at 40—60 degrees without fabric softener and air dry. Do not use a dryer — this can damage the PUL layer and the snaps.

No, incontinence pads don't need to be pre-soaked. Just wash them at 40—60 degrees. Pads and pantyliners with blood stains can be pre-soaked in cold water to make stains easier to remove.

Store used pads in a waterproof wetbag. A wetbag seals well and prevents odors. At home, you can also store them in a dry laundry basket. Rinse them with cold water as soon as possible to prevent stains.

No, we advise against it. The heat of a dryer can damage the PUL layer (leak-proof layer) and affect the snaps. Air dry your pads — they dry quickly, especially in summer or with a breeze.

Rinse the stain as soon as possible with cold water — never warm, as that sets the stain. Use our LottePads Stain Remover for stubborn stains. Rub it in, let it soak briefly and then wash normally. View the LottePads Stain Remover →

If your pad is properly washed and dried, it lasts for years. Signs that it's time for replacement: the fabric pills heavily, the snaps no longer close properly, absorbency is noticeably less, or the PUL layer is damaged (you notice this when the pad leaks). Follow the washing routine well and your pads will last a very long time. View washing instructions →

With proper care, LottePads last an average of 5 years — some women use them even longer. Wash at the right temperature, don't use fabric softener and line dry for the longest lifespan.

That's normal! After line drying, velour can feel a bit stiff. Scrunch the pad firmly through your hands — squeeze and release a few times — and it becomes wonderfully soft again.

Yes, that's allowed. We recommend 40 degrees for normal use, but 60 degrees is permitted — especially if you want extra hygiene, after an infection, or with postpartum pads. Don't wash at 60 degrees more often than necessary, as higher temperatures can slightly shorten the lifespan.

Hygiene & Safety

Yes, provided you wash them correctly. Wash your pads at 40—60 degrees without fabric softener and let them dry completely before use. Blood from your uterus isn't dirty — it comes from a clean place. Store clean pads dry and in a dark place.

Yes, provided you wash them correctly. Wash incontinence pads at 40—60 degrees without fabric softener. When in doubt or after an infection, wash at 60 degrees. Urine is sterile when it leaves your body. Store clean pads dry and in a dark place.

For most women, there are no contraindications. If you have a specific skin condition or allergy, check the materials of the top layer you choose. When in doubt, consult your doctor or gynecologist.

If you don't wash your pads properly or don't let them dry completely, bacteria can multiply. Always wash at the right temperature, don't use fabric softener and make sure your pads are completely dry before use. Follow the washing instructions for best results. View washing instructions →

With an active infection (such as a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis), we recommend washing your pads at 60 degrees to kill bacteria and fungi. Do not use fabric softener. Always consult a doctor for persistent complaints.
